SUU trip

Its always fun to get away for just a day or so.  We decided to visit Maggie in Cedar City and attend a Thunderbird basketball game.  Although we didn't win - it was definitely fun!

Winter 2009

Sometimes our California friends wonder what we could possible do to keep ourselves busy during the long winter months.  Occasionally the sun is out and the boys take the toys out!

Cubscout Pack meeting - Cub-anapolis

This year instead of a traditional pinewood derby, our pack opted for a "Cub-Anapolis" where the kids had to make their own cardboard box car, race an obstacle course and have 4 pit stops. It was the best fun ever!!  Even the dads got to race and I laughed so hard my eyes were tearing!  After each lap the kids had to stop at a pit stop: 1st - wipe their goggles, 2nd- take off their shoes, change their socks inside out and put their shoes back on,  3rd - take off their helmet, comb their hair, and take a photo, 4th - take a drink of water.   The "cars" were all so unique and truly made by the kids - although some dads missed their pinewood derby - I think the boys really like the "Cub-Anapolis"

Snowshoeing at Soldier Hollow

Winter Trails hosted a free snowshoeing/xcountry skiing event at Soldier Hollow in Midway.  It allowed for everyone to try the equipment for free and roam around the venue.  It was great!  I didn't think Alex would make it for long, but with a few breaks - he did pretty well. Unfortunately we ran out of time to try the xcountry skiing  - maybe next time.  Also, I'll need to remember to bring a backpack with snacks next too!

Alex's Baptism - 1/2/10

Alex's big day finally came.  He's been waiting his turn anxiously and I was somewhat surprised on his level of excitement. He wanted his own scriptures, he wanted to go up and sit by the bishop and wanted the entire world to know he was baptized!  Funny kid -- he's so happy to have his own set of scriptures, he carries them everywhere! Even to the BYU basketball game we attended that night!

We were fortunate to have Sam and Hilary Bates, Matt and Emily (Wheeler-future Bates) and Brie and Mike Dance. Afterward we all headed over to Kneaders for breakfast.  It was great to spend time with family, to catch up and share stories.  A memorable day all around!

Happy New Year - 2010!

While the "big" kids were out and about doing their own New Year's thing - our "little boys" (although Josh is now taller than me) and us had a little celebratin'of our own. We donned our hats, blew our horns, ate all night long, lit fireworks and gave each other lots of hugs!  Poor Chelsea came down with the stomach flu and wasn't much in the celebratin' mood.

Sunday Family Dinner

Now that the older kids are grown and so very busy - it truly takes a miracle to gather them together for a family dinner.  I can completely understand why mothers are so happy when all their kids are together for even just a little while ;)

Winter Sledding

If there is one thing that Alex LOVES - its sledding.  He could go out everyday if someone would take him.  On Christmas Eve - we decided to all go to Mitchell Hollow (a neighborhood park). Its just his size.
